Dr. Scott Campbell received most of his seismic training at University of California (Berkeley). His experience was further broadened as an Assistant Professor at the American University in Armenia. Past projects have included Bomb Blast Analysis for JAYCOR and later for Applied Research Associates. His quest for involvement with "real world" projects and his unique Civil/Structural background led him to Kinetics where he has become extensively involved in whole building isolation as well as seismic and bomb blast protection.
Dr. Ernest W.F. Cheng, BEng, PhD, MHKIOA, obtained his BEng in Environmental Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and completed his PhD degree in Noise Pollution Control at the same University in 2002. Specializing research in the area of material properties and applications, he subsequently was appointed as an engineer by Gammon Construction Ltd. He obtained extensive hands-on experience in noise barrier design and material selection. Joining Kinetics in 2007, his expertise has been further developed in the aspect of room acoustic design.
Margareta Ivanovic-Dubljevic, a graduate of the University of Belgrade, has been with Kinetics since 1996, moving up to the Chief Engineer's role before shifting her focus to software development. In her current capacity, "Maja" develops and maintains air distribution system modeling software (acoustics) for outside users as well as manufacturing, pricing, and order release software, enabling rapid, efficient response to market needs.
Paul Meisel spent 18 years designing Mining Equipment ranging from trucks and locomotives to fans and continuous miners. Although not readily obvious, noise and vibrations significantly affected the design of this equipment. With Kinetics for 13 years and holding several patents, he brings different insights into the building noise/vibration control arena. Paul is a frequent and well-respected speaker at both the local and national level.
David Meredith has been with Kinetics his entire working career. Since specializing in acoustics and earning a Master's Degree with honors, Dave has 30 years of experience in the industry addressing complex sound and vibration issues. Currently Export Market Manager, Dave is the primary contact for overseas applications. Given his vast experience, he travels and speaks on a wide range of sound and vibration topics of interest throughout the world.
Richard Sherren, Chief Mechanical Engineer at Kinetics, graduated Magna Cum Laude and went on to obtain his Master's Degree at West Virginia University. "Dick" came to Kinetics from the heavy equipment design industry where he spent time with JOY, OB Transit, Jeffrey Mining Machinery, and Caterpillar. At Kinetics, Dick specializes in new product development and overall system analysis. He also represents Kinetics with the ASHRAE and AIA organizations.
Lumi Ursulescu joined Kinetics in 2000 and has moved from a Mechanical Designer up to the Engineering Design Department Manager. While her primary focus is on rigid walled acoustic chambers and production silencers, she is also actively involved in vibration control applications in the Canadian marketplace. Lumi graduated from the University of Bucharest prior to immigrating to Canada.
Bryan Boggs graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BSMET degree in 1994. With Kinetics since 1994, Bryan shifted from an initial role in sales support to head up the Engineering Standards and Product Maintenance Group. Besides standards and existing product responsibilities, Bryan also addresses the wide range of special and job specific customization that passes through the engineering department.
Darren Breece earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Technology before working his way up to Test Lab Manager for Genie (garage door openers). After joining Kinetics as an HVAC Application Engineer in 1996, Darren became the HVAC & OEM Manager three years later. Since 2008, he has worked as a Project Engineer focusing on special projects, working to resolve field installation and in-house engineering and manufacturing issues, and supporting new product development.
Matthew Golden, Acoustical Product Engineering Manager for the architectural and interiors markets of Kinetics noise control, is a BSME and MS Acoustics graduate from the Pennsylvania State University. Matthew began working for Kinetics in 2006 where he develops new and improved products and provides engineering support for their application. He brings with him experience in acoustical consulting for the transit noise and vibration isolation, environmentally acoustics and multi-family building industries. He has further experience designing acoustical building products with constrained layer damping for the multi-family building industry.
Alex Kaufman, a 2011 Graduate of Miami University of Oxford, Ohio, joined Kinetics’ HVAC Department shortly after graduation. After his senior year of high school, Alex completed a unique internship at Kroger’s Springdale Ice-cream and Beverage Company which enabled him to become familiar with the manufacturing process of consumer goods. While obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Alex played linebacker for the Miami Redhawks football team, which went on to win the 2010 MAC Championship.
Benjamin Krichbaum, with Kinetics since 2008, is a graduate of Ohio University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2003. Post graduation, he promptly began working as a Design Engineer for 84 Lumber Company in Pennsylvania. He soon advanced to General Manager and ultimately Division Manager before coming to Kinetics as the HVAC Engineering Manager. Ben oversees all HVAC application engineering, seismic calculations, and works hand in hand with the programmer to develop Kinetics’ unique job tracking software to improve job efficiency and better serve customers in a continuously advancing market.
Mark Lovat joined Kinetics in fall of 2010 shortly after graduating from The Ohio State University. While at OSU, Mark specialized in Mechanical Engineering and completed several large team projects such as developing a theoretical brewing system and a working model solar panel. He is on the team of HVAC Application Engineers at Kinetics and is currently focusing on large-scale seismic projects.
Darren Riley earned his Engineering degree at Kent State University, in Ohio. After college Darren joined the U.S. Marines & served 10 years, earning the rank of E-7 Gunnery Sgt. He was a member of the elite 2/2 Sniper Team. He also served as a shooting instructor at Marine Corps Base, Quantico in VA. After serving his country, Darren & his family moved back to Ohio & he worked 5+ years at 84 Lumber, becoming Design Manager. He then transferred to Kinetics Noise Control in 2008. He worked his way through the Engineering department, focusing on HVAC seismic & vibration applications. In 2010 he then became Kinetic’s Canadian Regional HVAC Sales Manager & Designer. He works closely with KNC’s P. Eng. in Mississauga on making sure everything done is within the OBC / NBCC codes. Darren helps out with new seismic & vibration product development & system analysis. He has worked on many primary jobs: Duke Tower, New Quito International Airport, York Regional Police, St. Joseph Hospital, Canadian Blood Svcs, Peel Region Transhelp, Sault St. Marie Hospital, Toronto Police Station, Siemens Canada & many more throughout Canada. His primary focus now, is to help the Canadian market understand the needs for seismic & vibration as referenced within the OBC & NBCC codes.
John Sofra is the Industrial and Commercial (Air-side) U.S. Market Manager for Kinetics Noise Control. Besides his Master's Degree in Business Administration, John has a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. John works closely with Kinetics' customers on the special applications common to the Industrial, Environmental and Commercial (Air-side) markets offering guidance and tailoring solutions to complex problems such as in-plant noise control, outdoor noise issues as well as duct system acoustics. Prior to joining Kinetics, John gained experience as the Manager of the Acoustics Division of McGill AirPressure Corporation.
Joel Walters is a Graduate of the University of Cincinnati (1981) with a degree in Industrial Design. Since 1997, he has worked as an Inside Sales Engineer at Kinetics, specializing in OEM HVAC accounts. In this capacity, he provides custom product design and support tailored to the specialized requirements of the OEM Marketplace.
Angela Waters, with Kinetics Noise Control since 2009, is a graduate of The Ohio State University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structures. Before coming to Kinetics, Angela spent more than 6 years working at Architectural and Structural Engineering Firms in the building construction industry. It is this experience combined with the field experience, that she obtained while working at project sites during college that enables her to help Kinetics Noise Control interface their products with the building construction process. Angela provides structural engineering support to all of the markets at Kinetics Noise Control.
Phil Wright holds Associate of Applied Science degrees in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from Columbus State University and has also completed engineering courses at Miami University. Prior to starting at Kinetics in 2008 as an HVAC Application Engineer, Phil most recently worked in CNC machining at Hirschvogel. He started his career in sheet metal fabrication and worked into the quality control role at Ometek in Gahanna. He also obtained a design patent for a unique picture clip he created to keep the back flap of framed pictures from easily collapsing upon the shuffle of cleaning and everyday activities.
Stephen Young graduated Magna Cum Laude from The Ohio State University in 2005. He began his education at Ohio University and later transferred to OSU to obtain his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Since 2008, Stephen has been an HVAC Application Engineer at Kinetics. In this role, he has become well versed in dealing with unique jobs requiring special design in seismic equipment and is often assigned to larger ongoing projects dealing with hospitals and universities. Stephen has also been instrumental in the development of software to better serve Kinetics’ customers.
