Digital sound reproduction produces high-level, low-frequency airborne sound and structure-borne vibration. Added mass in the walls and resilient wall isolation can attenuate the sound energy to acceptable levels. In cases where the theater floor is over occupied space, isolation floors are necessary.
Walls - Typically, double-wall construction using sway braces, Model PSB or Model KWSB. The interior wall rests on the floating floor and is isolated at the top plate with Model IPRB restraint brackets or one of the sway braces.
Use Model IsoMax clips for single studwall STC ratings of 60-65 or use the clips to fur off wallboard on a masonory wall.
Floors - Model RIM isolation material supporting a concrete slab offers excellent low-frequency attenuation.
